PORNFILMFESTIVAL BERLIN LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Wakefield Poole

The Pornfilmfestival Berlin is proud to present Wakefiled Poole with its first Lifetime Achievement Award ever! Because of the enormous local and international attention that we receive, we feel entitled to award such a prize without appearing pretentious. Over the years, the festival has become a unique and internationally acclaimed forum for the cinematic examination of sexuality for filmmakers and an interested audience.
To establish a new tradition with this year’s award winner Wakefield Poole seemed to us not only logical but downright mandatory! Not only because of his tremendous creativity when it comes to independently produced experimental hardcore films but also because Wakefield Poole set standards in gay pornography that until today professionally produced gay porn can’t do without.
The openness – sometimes maybe even naïveté – with which he approached his projects and followed them through commands the highest respect: he did what he did out of the deep conviction that it had to be done. No hiding, no back doors. And in a time when standing up for the civil rights of minorities was not at all a common political matter but indeed a risk for life and limb, Wakefield Poole signed his films with his real name and thus exposed himself deliberately to praise as well as to hostility. This makes him an experimental and political erotic filmmaker, and his attitude made him not only a pioneer of gay pornography but also an icon in the fight for the rights of homosexuals, coloured persons, and women.
It was our motivation and our duty to create this award in order to show our respect and to pay tribute, and we couldn’t think of a more worthy honoree than Wakefield Poole!

BEST FICTION FEATURE FILM AWARD splitted between:

THE BUNNY GAME
(by: Adam Rehmeier)
&
 INFIDÉLITÉ (by: Ovidie)

We decided to choose Adam Rehmeier’s THE BUNNY GAME despite the inherent and explicit violence towards a woman because, being co-written by the victim or BDSM female bottom, it explores taboo territory and shows a world most of us are not familiar with. Its beautiful cinematography, depicting a frightening and sometimes abhorrent scenario, plays with filmic techniques in a unique and fascinating way. It is important to remember the bottom is always the one in control in real S&M games.

We chose INFIDÉLITÉ for completely opposite reasons. It not only manages to mix humor with explicit sex while still remaining erotic, it also depicts sex between older actors and actresses – a rarity in porn. Directing and narrating in a very beautiful erotic and very personal manner, Ovidie has created an authentic and moving story.

BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE FILM AWARD
IL N’Y A PAS DE RAPPORT SEXUEL (by: Raphaël Siboni)

As the winner of the Pornfilmfestival Berlin Documentary Feature Film Award the festival curators chose the film
IL N’Y A PAS DE RAPPORT SEXUEL
by Raphaël Siboni for its original, innovative perspective on the happenings and non-happenings behind the scenes of commercial porn shootings, finding absurd, funny, disillusioning, bizarre or poetic moments where no one else would look for them.

BEST SHORT FILM AWARD

The short film jury awards the prize for the best short film to BANKERS by Antonio da Silva, discovering without words and in surprising images, filmed with a hidden camera, an astounding choreography in a public place.
